Chinese Painting Themes
In contrast to Western styles of art and painting,
Chinese artists created the style of
painting in themes such as landscape, bamboo etc.
Chinese theme painting has a very long history in Chinese art and,
as is traditional, the majority of Chinese artists
still specialize in just one or two themes.
This creates an effect
only possible after years of practice.
Possibly the best known theme in Chinese paintings is that of
landscape where a balanced harmony is
achieved by the skilful portrayal of rocks
and water, mountains and sky, trees and
mist. Each theme has
its own special meanings which are often used for the
enhancement of Feng Shui.
A good Chinese painting in a particular theme
is judged by the strength of the feeling it conveys,
rather than the subject matter itself.
Chinese theme paintings are wonderful, full
of meaning, imagination and vitality, and we are pleased to
bring this beautiful imaginative realm to
your attention. In China owning a painting is a
symbol of being knowledgable about the fine arts and culture.
This is traditionally known as one of the four signs of the scholar.
Although each Chinese painting is representative of a theme no
two paintings are the same.
Each is unique and an original work of art in its
own right.
