Chinese Artists at The Gallery of China

This page is about our Traditional Chinese Artists.
See Contemporary Chinese Art here

All the paintings available for purchase from the "The Galleries" are original works of art painted by esteemed Chinese artists employing traditional methods.

Although each painting is representative of a theme no two paintings are the same. Each is unique and an original work of art in its own right.

They are painted by brushing inks mixed with vegetable dyes onto hand-made Xuan paper using the same techniques as were used by the ancient Masters.

All the artists have at least fifteen years experience in traditional Chinese painting methods. They are members of many prestigious associations, including:

Chinese Sitao Art Association
Xu Bei Hong Research Association
Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association
Chinese Artists' Association
Calligraphy and Painting Association of Chinese Elders
Chinese Painting House
Artist's Association Guilin Region
Oriental Painting Association

You will be provided with any information we have about the particular artist for any painting that you purchase.

Mainly due the phenomenal increase of people interested in Feng Shui, Traditional Chinese Paintings of this sort are rapidly gaining in popularity. Paintings by artists who have already established a name for themselves, such as Qi Bashi, now sell for prices in excess of US$50,000.

The prices of paintings in "The Galleries" reflect the fact that they are imported from The People's Republic of China and offered to you directly. Each painting displays the artist's "signature seal" otherwise known as a "chop mark".

As is traditional, the finished paintings are framed within a silk brocade border and scrolled onto a wooden scroll-pin. This provides easy storage and gives the painting a certain rigidity when hanging on the wall.

The silk brocade border is a rich oriental silk fabric with subtle raised patterns embroidered in coloured, often gold and silver, threads. In contrast to Western picture frames, which tend to isolate the painting, the border is designed to heighten its decorative character. This is the traditional Chinese way. However, this is a matter of personal preference and all paintings can readily be framed in the more traditional Western manner.

We hope you enjoy browsing our gallery and perhaps purchase a painting or two for your home, office or workplace. You will find the tranquil effect created acts as a positive aid in producing a more refreshing environment. Please pay attention to sizes, the larger ones are magnificent (make sure sufficient hanging space is available).
