animal by the Chinese, is a favourite
theme for many Chinese painters and is therefore depict upon many
Chinese paintings.
The Horse
is an emblem of speed and perseverance and
symbolises strength, courage and the
swiftness of life. It is the seventh sign
of the Chinese zodiac (years 1918, 1930,
1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002). If you were
born in one of these years you are said to
be lively, cheerful, loyal, very
sociable and to love travel.
The horse is also associated with high official status and with the passing from one existence to another. Han Kan, one of the most famous ancient Chinese painters, devoted himself primarily to horse painting. View Chinese Horse Paintings here |
