Born in 1923, Sun Entong graduated from the Fine Arts Department of North Eastern University in 1948. In 1949 he enrolled as a postgraduate in the Fine Arts Department at the North Eastern Luxun Literature and Art Academy.

Sun Entong is currently a professor at Luxun Fine Art Academy, a member of the Chinese Artists Association and a member of Tongze Fine Arts Institute.
In 1990 Professor Sun Entong accepted an invitation to visit and exhibit his paintings in Japan and Singapore and in 1992 a solo exhibition exclusively for his work was held at the Chinese Fine Arts Gallery in Beijing.

He received the Northeast Three Provinces Merit for his painting "Cold Forest" and for "In the Fall" was awarded the 1986 Merit at the Japanese Modern Water and Ink Paintings Exhibition. His "Yiman Room" was awarded the Merit at the All China Fine Arts Exhibition.
His main works to date are: "Alongside Yingna River", "Waterfall at Changbai", "Changbai Forest", "Cold Forest", and "Yiman Room".
The name of Professor Sun Entong is listed in the Chinese Artists Yearbook, Modern Chinese Artists Dictionary and the Contemporary Chinese Artists Dictionary.
