About The Gallery of China

Our Email: contactNO@SPAMthe-gallery-of-china.com (remove "NO SPAM" from address before sending)

Welcome to The Gallery of China. We'd like to tell you a little about how we got started, who we work with and what we do.
Although in many ways the ideas behind The Gallery of China started in the 1970's it wasn't until 1996 that the idea for the gallery was formed. Parallel with the phenomenal rise of the internet our humble beginnings have been transformed. Tens of thousands of people now visit our website every week.

Our Story

So, this is our story. Over the last fifteen years or so we've worked with and received invaluable help from people with various areas of expertise (see consultants to The Gallery of China). Also, none of this would have come about if it were not for certain other people along the way. The first of which was, the owner's, Andrew Clarke, martial arts instructor back in the 1970's. Remember the Bruce Lee films and how all of a sudden Kung Fu became the thing to do. We won't mention his instructor's name but it suffices to say that it was through him that the owner first became interested in China and Chinese culture. Since that time his interest in China has led him to study related philosophy and religion at B.A. and M.A. levels at the University of Lancaster in the north-west of England. As you'll know if you've looked at our Chinese art articles, Chinese paintings are very closely connected with Chinese philosophy and religion. Andrew says that ever since owning his first Chinese painting he's come to regard them as being very special. He is most fond of landscape and bamboo and is still amazed at how even one painting can transform the ambience of a room. After finishing his studies at university in 1995, during his visits to China, he's sought only the finest Chinese artists who's work you now see on this website. The philosophy regarding The Gallery of China is to provide the finest Chinese paintings, both traditional and contemporary, plus periodically updated insights into the general terrain of Chinese art and culture, married together with first class customer service. Please feel free to read what our Chinese art customers say about us and the Chinese art we provide.

The Future

We will continue to add our own content and search the internet to provide you with the very best that this exciting medium can offer. We very much hope you take a close interest in how our website develops and recommend it to your friends. At your request you can be notified whenever these changes occur by signing our Chinese gallery guestbook.

Please enjoy taking the time to browse this Chinese art site, bookmark it, and return frequently. We will continue to do our best to make it worth your while.
